The employee's name is Swapan Das. He is working as a Boatman (BM) of the Coastal Forest Department. He was transferred from Maheshkhali on December 16 and joined Urirchar in Sandwip. After that, Swapan claimed that he was infuriated by the officers and employees working in Sandeep's Urirchar.
Swapan Das told Prothom Alo on his mobile phone that a conspiracy was going on against him. He could be killed at any time. But he did not want to say what caused the conspiracy against him or why he would be killed.
When contacted, Manzoor Morshed, a BIT officer at the BIT office, told Prothom Alo that Swapan Das had a mental problem. That is why he is behaving like this. He was told to leave the house and was even taken to the dock. But Swapan Das did not want to leave the office with them.
When asked about this, Swapan Das said that he may have been taken away from Bit office and killed. He's not going for that. He is willing to go to the office of the Divisional Forest Officer if he is taken away by the police security. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture, and that his confession had been obtained through torture. Locals say he was killed. He thinks that it may happen in his case too.
ASI Sheikh Abdul Baten, who went to the spot after receiving a call on 999, told Prothom Alo that initially, as far as he knew, BIT officer Manzoor Murshed had been torturing boatman Swapan Das for two months. He is kept separate from other workers. Although the matter is an internal matter of the forest department, the police have to look into the matter of safety of the life of the government employee. Necessary steps will be taken after further investigation in this regard.
