Election Commission: Comfort, Fear and Entertainment

The Election Commission is now the talk of the country. Some are terrified of what is happening for a few days, some are getting entertainment. Those who were critics of the previous commissions are worried that such a syndicate will not sit on the neck like a giant of Sindabad. "The commission has succeeded in its work," the former chief election commissioner told a news conference. Those who have the strongest objection to this statement can only say, 'Shame, hatred, fear - not to have three.'

Many consider the formation of the Election Commission and the issue of 'successful' elections under the Commission as a joke. Bengalis like jokes. Let's give a rough example of pure entertainment. The children go to the zoo to see the animals. Animals that have higher market prices or endangered species — such as tigers, bears, zebras, giraffes, etc. are more crowded in front of monkey cages than children are. There is only one reason; The monkey entertains the children with his monkey. We admire a brave child, a tiger cub or a lion cub. And those who are a little naughty, fickle, I call them deer.

Our aspiration is skyrocketing. We want to see tigers and lions in the Election Commission. I want them to walk with courage. But if you want, you can't get everything! A big complaint about the Election Commission is that the members of the Commission are favored by the government. They do not want to step outside the will of the government or do not get the courage. They are very domineering.

This time the search committee was formed by beating a lot of drums. The members of the committee are the children of this country. Do they not know people? They asked the political parties to send name proposals. The party will not name anyone outside the party's consideration. They have also asked professional organizations and 'eminent' people to suggest names. Many of them are 'neutral', many of them are 'partisans'. They have proposed more than three hundred names. Seeing the list is overwhelming. There are so many 'golden people' in the country!

In the dialogue with the inquiry committee, some have said that the name of the party proposed by the party should be revealed. This will make the process more transparent. On the plus side, it eliminates unhealthy sugary foods from one's diet.

We all say that the Election Commission must be non-partisan. Then the members of the commission can go beyond the demands and considerations of the party and perform their duties. Many people think that there is no neutral person in this country. I do not agree with them. I think there are more neutral people in the country than partisans. We don't try to find them. Because, if they are given the responsibility, there is no opportunity to manipulate the election.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. But in the end, those who will be nominated are not people from another planet. There is no reason to think that their background, past actions and behavior will remain completely unknown.

Some parties are strongly opposed to disclosing whose name has been proposed. The names of some of them have also appeared in the newspapers. I do not understand the reason. If the name of the proposer is known then people will appreciate him. Say, look, the party has risen above narrowness and proposed the names of 'good' people. If the proposer is reluctant to reveal his name, then it must be assumed that he has proposed the name of the 'evil' person and let this information be leaked, he does not want it.

An Awami League leader has said that if the name of the proposing party is known, the party badge will fall on the honorable people. The leader of the Workers' Party said, "It would not be right to reveal the name of the person who proposed it."

I can't help but give an example in this regard. Mahbub Talukder was a member of the outgoing commission. Some Awami League leaders have said about him, he is the nominee of BNP. But Mahbub Talukder himself did not say it, BNPO did not say it. Then why was the party badge given to him? On what grounds? Awami League general secretary Mahbub Talukder was so enraged at his work that he publicly said that Mahbub Talukder was mentally ill and needed medical treatment.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. But in the end, those who will be nominated are not people from another planet. There is no reason to think that their background, past actions and behavior will remain completely unknown.

In conclusion, it can be said that those who are against the disclosure of the name of the proposer do not want their pride to be exposed. That means dal me kuch kala hai. If you have the courage, then there is no need to plot.

The inquiry committee will select ten names from the proposed list and their own inquiry and send it to the President. The president will appoint five of them according to the 'system'. Then they will come to the light of the footlights. We will see their faces on Horror television, we will hear their words.

No matter what the Election Commission is, it is impossible for five people to hold elections without the cooperation of the government. The question is whether the government wants good elections. The last two elections have been held under the party government. The government claims that those elections have been good. So in the future they will want such a 'good election'. Many do not believe that there can be 'good elections' under a party government. That is why there is a demand for election-time government system. The reason behind the abolition of the electoral system under the caretaker government was the argument of the abolitionists that we cannot leave the fate of 160 million people in the hands of an unelected government. It is not even constitutional. And who doesn't know, there is no other constitutional nation like ours anywhere else in the world!

There has been so much bloodshed in this year's local government elections that it has broken all past records. The recent local government elections can be seen as a dress rehearsal for what the next national election will look like. Many people say, hey, local government elections do not change the government! National elections should not be compared with this. That is not entirely correct. Local government changes in local government elections. The local government has 'putti fish'. Rui-Katla is in the national sphere. Although there is a difference in the scope of power, there is not much difference in character.

Since the time of Ayub Khan, all the elections have been held under the party government, the governments have called all the elections free, fair and neutral. Everyone plays the same cracked record. If a projection can be made about this, then it is not difficult to predict what the next election will be like.

Political parties will continue 'kaizza-facade' as always. For the time being, there is no other way open for the citizens except relying on the mercy of Allah. Because, it cannot be said by swearing that the next election commission will not be another syndicate.
