The government extended the closure by two weeks in response to a call from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to reopen the school. In their opinion, the issue of everyone's safety has become more important. Although the Education Minister and the Prime Minister did not agree on this issue, it seems that the educational institution will be opened in the last week of this month and classes will be held in reality.
The results of HSC examination have been published. As it turns out, the test results are very good. The overall pass rate is 95. But the test has been done in only three subjects, even though the class assessment has been added, there are doubts about its validity. Moreover, I think it is a matter of deep thought whether this examination, known as the ladder of higher education, should be so short and light.
We think that as a result of the long shutdown, the mental and physical crisis of all the students from children to young people has increased. An example of this is the hundreds of suicides among university level students in the last one year. And various sources are reporting the news of serious physical and mental illness of children and adolescents. In this situation, it is important to judge between the risk of opening an educational institution and the consequences of closing it. Experience has shown that the serious consequences of corona in children are very low. But the effects of the long shutdown are very negative in their lives. As a result, it is better to open the educational institution quickly by strengthening the vaccination of secondary, college and university level students and ensuring two doses for all teachers. This proposal is probably consistent with the thinking of most students, teachers and parents.
We would say that in the midst of the ups and downs of the Corona situation, it is important to keep in mind the importance of keeping the educational institutions open and to formulate policies and plans for vaccination activities. This decision has to be taken considering all aspects, especially keeping in mind the future of the country. I would like to say that in the current situation, in the last two years, there has been a plan to prevent and compensate for the massive damage that has been done at all levels of education.
Needless to say, the online or assignment-based learning activities that are taking place in the closure have not been able to meet the real class requirements in any way. It is not possible for many to be involved in it. There is also a need to be aware of the negative health effects of online methods and the risks of corona can be compared with these losses.

The absurdity of our education system has been discussed for many years. This education has been limited to day-to-day test results. So this system has also become memorized. As a result, some basic thinking skills and the ability to express them in one's own language are not acquired; On the contrary, in this situation, there is no need or opportunity to move forward in the pursuit of knowledge by considering logic. This is a barren futile system. And as a result of the habit of memorizing the answers to the selected questions from the very beginning of education, these students take that trend to a higher level. The main purpose of education is failing even at higher levels. No matter how much we talk about quality, lively and enjoyable education, it will not fit in this system.
The Ministry of Education is moving towards a new system to finally move away from this reality and ensure quality education. This year's piloting is in the sixth grade of 72 selected schools. This method is completely different from the old style. As far as is known, it will be a student-centered system, excluding the teacher-centered system of the past. The role of the teacher will be mainly to help the student in this path of knowledge, which is called facilitator in English. There will be 10 subjects till 12th class. And in each subject there will be a few criteria based on the class, which the student will achieve through year-round practice. The way to achieve this will be the different experiences of the students, as they will find the way of that experience, the teacher will also help in that. The student handbook will contain some samples of the basic qualification experience that students will follow. But since experience, So they have to achieve it through direct work. There will be step by step challenges of creativity along this journey. That will motivate them to cross the road ahead. In this way, the students will continue to move forward with their own needs and happiness. Once the qualifications prescribed in the syllabus are also acquired and the part of the lesson will also be read.
Yes, many people think the question is revolving, what will be the test, how will the test? No, there will be no more routine examinations before the 10th class public examination, instead there will be continuous evaluation of classroom activities. Students will receive results based on this assessment at the end of the year. It will also contain descriptions of each subject's strengths and weaknesses.
Since this will be a completely different or new journey, the whole education system cannot be brought under it overnight. It will take time for everyone concerned to be prepared, informed, accustomed. Teachers should not only be aware of the new trends, they should also get out of the old methods and habits. As easy as it will be for children, it will not be for adults. So give them time. Based on this year's experience, next year the number of classes and schools will have to be increased under the pilot project so that new system can be introduced in the next year, i.e. pre-primary to twelfth in 2024.
This is a huge undertaking, the preparatory work of which has been started by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board long ago. However, the work has started in earnest after the Prime Minister approved the proposed measure last September. This is not enough time to prepare, so this year the relevant helpful books will be prepared and supplied in three installments on a four-month basis. The supporting textbooks for the pilot project are in a sense an experimental draft, to be put into practice and finalized. As a result, advice from people who are more interested in one-sided criticism and from academics and people involved in education will be useful at this stage.
The need to change our current system has been discussed for a long time. Many initiatives have been taken at different times, new subjects and methods have been adopted, even the general idea about our education system is that there are only new experiments but nothing is done.
We will say, now there will be no work with repairs or gonjamil. A new effective system has to be introduced. That effort is being made in the new education system. I will just add one thing at the end, this system is a great project of education, just as the government is implementing mega projects in building infrastructure, it is important to fulfill the demands of the grand project in education today. The importance of infrastructure is undeniable, but it must be acknowledged that the most important thing for any country is the development of human resources. Today we have been talking about quality education for some time. Now is the time to take all possible initiatives to implement it and look forward to the new curriculum and approach that has been redesigned.
